The game has one simple rule:
Speak in the present tense
about the present moment.
Most of us spend more time remembering the past, imagining
the future, and thinking about life than directly experiencing it.
The game brings us back to what’s happening right now.
Notice the sensations happening
in your body right now.
Body Sensations
Perceptions
Notice what you can see, hear,
smell, and sense all around you.
Notice what you’re feeling and how
it changes moment to moment.
Thoughts
Notice what moves through your mind without turning it into a story.

How to prepare for
an in-person game
Arrive early
and settle in
Give yourself time to
transition from the fast pace
of daily life into a different relationship with time.
Set aside phones, watches,
drinks, and anything else that pulls your attention away
from the circle.
Power down
to get focused
Help shape
what emerges
Nothing that happens is predetermined. Simply show
up, stay curious, and take
part in what unfolds.
How to prepare
for an online game
Eliminate distractions
Find a quiet place where you can be alone and uninterrupted for the full game. Let others know
in advance that you’ll be unavailable for the
next two hours.
Get your
devices ready
You can play from your
laptop, desktop, or a docked tablet, but please do not plan to play from your phone, as you’ll be asked to power it down before the game begins.
Cover all
visible clocks
Remove your watch and cover any clocks in view, including the small time display on your computer. Eliminating these
references helps your
sense of time soften.
Take care of
your body
Have a snack and use the restroom before we begin. Please also avoid having food and drinks nearby (even water!), so your
focus can stay fully
within the circle.
